Jio GigaFiber- What Is It?

Jio GigaFiber is the new technology which is going to be launched by Jio- the company which has already revolutionized the country with its 4G sim and phones, introduced recently. This time it has planned to introduce the new era of broadband internet to the customers.

Jio GigaFiber is the fiber-optic based network which is going to provide high-speed internet connectivity to its customers. It will be more reliable than the traditional copper wire network. Due to which the customer is going to experience lower latency and higher throughput.

For the unknowns, Jio GigaFiber had already entered the market back in 2018 as part of its beta testing mode for its select users. But this year it is going commercial with its original plans for all customers.

Jio GigaFiber Registration- How To Get Jio Fiber?

The company is currently running a Jio GigaFiber Preview offer on its website. You have to register on the website and after registration, they will install the internet setup with zero installation charges. But you have to submit the security deposit of Rs.4500 for ONT device (GigaHub Home Gateway) provided by Jio. The amount is only refundable if you choose to discontinue the fiber service.

Currently, the company is offering 100Mbps speed for 100GB of data with 90 days of validity. If you exhaust your data quota, you can also top-up up to 40GB of additional data for free either via MyJio app or After the commercial launch, the security deposit amount may get changed with the new upcoming data plans.

There is no confirmation of the original prices of the fiber plans. But there are possibilities that the company can introduce a base package priced between Rs.500-600/month. As a part of a package, the company may introduce the ‘Triple Pay Plan’ which will consist of services like broadband, TV service, and landline, all at one plan.

Jio GigaFiber Additional Services and Products

Reliance Jio may launch new products and services complementary to its Jio GigaFiber Broadband service. The company may launch GigaRouter and GigaTV set-top box devices. According to the sources, the company may also launch a range of new Internet of Things (IoT) products such as Wi-Fi extender, smart speaker, TV camera, video and audio dongle, smart plug and much more.

When GigaFiber Will Launch?

At its 42nd Annual General Meeting, the company may announce the GigaFiber service with all the other products and commercial plans. The meeting is scheduled to take place on August 12, 2019.

You must be wondering that how much speed will I get after installing this fiber-optic network? The answer is around 1 Gbps. The company has claimed to offer 1 Gbps of speed to its GigaFiber customers. Jio is claiming to use high-end technology to provide its customer high-speed internet. These fiber cables can be upgraded using electronic light pulses, therefore, they don’t need to be get replaced if any up-gradation is required. This seems to be a really interesting advantage of using it.
